2) What data the Extension processes

The Extension processes the following categories of data:

• Quiz content from the current tab (user‑initiated): When you click the Extension’s action (e.g., “Capture & Solve”), the Extension extracts the quiz question and answer choices that are visible on the page, so it can generate hints/explanations.
• Access Code (license): The Extension stores your BMX Access Code locally so you don’t have to re‑enter it each time.
• Basic technical data (server logs): When the Extension contacts our service, our servers may temporarily receive standard log data such as IP address, timestamps, and request metadata for security and abuse prevention.

3) What we do not collect

• We do not request or collect your name, email address, or phone number.
• We do not read your browsing history.
• We do not access tabs or sites in the background without your action.
• We do not collect payment card details through the Extension.

4) How data is used

We use the processed data to:

• Generate and display hints/explanations for the quiz content you submit.
• Validate access codes and enforce usage limits (anti‑abuse / fraud prevention).
• Maintain and secure the service (debugging, reliability, and incident response).

5) Where data is processed

When you request a hint/explanation, the Extension may send the quiz text and your Access Code (or a token derived from it) to our server endpoints at https://www.bmxlicenses.com/ to validate access and return a response.

6) Legal basis (GDPR/UK GDPR, where applicable)

Where GDPR/UK GDPR applies, we process data on the following bases:

• Performance of a contract / providing the service: to deliver the hints/explanations you request.
• Legitimate interests: to secure the service, prevent abuse, and maintain reliability.
• Consent (user‑initiated action): capture occurs only when you click to run the feature.

7) Data retention

• On your device: The Access Code is stored locally using Chrome storage until you remove it or uninstall the Extension.
• On our servers: Quiz text and responses may be processed to generate your result. Server logs may be retained for a limited period for security, troubleshooting, and abuse prevention.

8) Data sharing

We may share limited data only when necessary to provide the service or comply with the law:

• Service providers: Infrastructure providers (hosting, monitoring) may process data on our behalf under confidentiality and security obligations.
• Legal requirements: We may disclose data if required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security.

We do not sell your personal information.

9) Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect data in transit and at rest. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

10) Your choices

• You can clear the stored Access Code via the Extension’s settings/options page.
• You can uninstall the Extension at any time to remove locally stored data.

11) Children’s privacy

The Extension is intended to assist learning. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the Extension, contact us to request deletion.

12) Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the “Effective date” above when changes are made.
